DIY Home Decor: Braided Garland

My tree needed a little something more.  I think it still needs a better, more coordinating tree topper, but that will have to wait a bit longer.

I had long pearl-like strands from our wedding decorations and a bunch of long, skinny fabric scraps, so I set out to make some garland for the tree.

Pretty easy.  I used those tiny plastic hair bands for braids to fasten them together at the end and held the end down with a clipboard.  Then just braid the pearls and two different fabric scraps together for a really long time (I probably did 40 feet or more), and decorate your tree! (When I got to the end of a fabric scrap, I put a few stitches in them to sew the two pieces together.)

You could do this with ribbon also, and you could use it to decorate pretty much anything.
